The funds of the Kharkiv State Scientific Library named after V. G. Korolenko have been replenished with a new scientific and local history publication. The head of the NGO "Warriors of Good", Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Oleksandr Kryvokon handed over two copies of the book by Anton Verbiani and Taras Halian "Perenivka: from the thunder of Perun to the light of the monastic abode" to the institution.
The publication saw the light of day in 2026 in the Rivne publishing house of the NGO "Warriors of Good" and is dedicated to the 240th anniversary of the history of the community of Perenivka village, located in the Rohatyn urban hromada of the Ivano-Frankivsk district. The book is a detailed chronicle of the youngest village of the Rohatyn region and a significant contribution to the preservation of spiritual heritage and memory of the region.
"The book about Perenivka is a good continuation of the tradition of chronicling: by joining the writing of the chronicle of our community, we will be able to write the chronicle of Ukraine all together," noted Oleksandr Kryvokon during the handover of the publication.
The authors of the study highlight the centuries-old path of the community — from ancient times to the present. The village has been known since the 16th century under the name Perunivka, which is directly related to the ancient Slavic cult of the god of thunder and lightning, Perun. The official archaeological monument "Perenivka-1" is located on the territory of Perenivka, where scientists discovered the remains of a hillfort and an ancient pagan sanctuary-observatory. The publication describes in detail the process of christianization of the territory and the formation of monastic traditions of Opillia.
The new book will become a valuable source of information for historians, local historians, students, and everyone interested in the past of Prykarpattia. From now on, readers of the KhSNB named after V. G. Korolenko have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the processed materials in the reading rooms of the library.
